Many University libraries have access to these types of papers. You may need to be physically there, but most libraries have requirements for open access.

How Do You Think Election Votes Should Be Counted?
by minimus indo you think voters should be required to prove that they are legitimate?.
-
Anony Mous
Yes, and there is an easy way of doing that. You give people an ID based on their birth certificate and hash that information. You now have an anonymous identifier which you can tie to a vote. This vote can go on a public blockchain. Any party interested can subscribe to the blockchain and verify their own vote from home while their avatars give a plausible deniability.
People that say their votes were tampered with go back to vote again, which submits a cancel vote and a new vote.

Local Discretion ?
by Jerryh incan the local groups chose which talk for a given day?
how about the songs?
anything else?.
-
Anony Mous
The opening songs are a small selection based on the script of the talk. So at the header of the talk there is typically a list of 3-5 songs the speaker can pick from, the direction is to pick songs that weren’t used in the last/next few meetings (there are some that disregard that and then you get situations where the song for the talk and watchtower study is the same) and there is an outline with sentences and scriptures he has to stick to for the talk.
Everything is highly produced, there isn’t much left to personal choice.

JWs getting into film production what could go wrong
by mickbobcat inso the cult is getting into film production.
i saw evans piece on the jws opening a studio in australia.
one thing i see is if they use the people who are drawn to acting one they will create internal stars.

Hollywood is also an echo chamber, everyone in Hollywood that is not extreme-left gets rejected and blacklisted which results in more alphabetsoups being part of the group as you have to be pretty darn left to reject biological realities.
This is the same as saying that there are no alphabetsoup JW's and all JWs normalize child sex offenders - which is true, leftists in general would not be attracted to the message and anyone that does engage in practices or points out the sex offender problem gets promptly kicked out of the group.
There are conservative filmmakers, quite a bit of the best films in the 70s and 80s came from right-wing figures. Some of the best actors around both established and up-and-coming are conservative. You don't hear from them because they have an uphill battle getting recognized. But Jerry Bruckheimer, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Sandler, Vince Vaughn, Joe Pesci, Scott Baio, Jon Voight, John Wayne, Clint Eastwood, Charlton Heston, Keanu Reeves are or were some of the best actors and directors in history, and you haven't seen a good movie since Hollywood started actively blackballing some of these actors - literally look at the top rated movies (by viewers) of all time, the last one was The Dark Knight (2008) which was more than 10 years ago now.

New Light on Sheep and Goats?
by notsurewheretogo inlloyd evans has just tweeted a video he will be releasing soon on the "change" to the meaning of the sheep and goats and when that is to occur.. i've missed any discussion on that on here or anywhere?
it seems it was part of the 2020 annual meeting the gb had?.
any info on this?.

It seems to me lately that this new light depends on which of the 7 is currently writing. It seems like sometimes details on what interpretation is used in talks or writing greatly depends on which of them is saying it.
This then leads to weird reinterpretations across those who are paying attention (a few exJWs and a few hardcore armageddonists) which are later “corrected” by reprints of old material.
I think there are simply too many drunk cooks in the kitchen and they’re just hoping their flock doesn’t notice too much discrepancy from year to year.

Can we stick to topics that we came that we came to this forum in the first place?
by James Jack ini don’t care about politics, books you are reading, movies and tv programs you’re watching, etc..
-
Anony Mous
I think it’s great to see many of us take part in these kind of discourse, in the past we weren’t allowed to comment on politics or participate in voting etc. There isn’t a whole lot going on in JW-land, they literally have been shutting down the religion to save money. This forum isn’t just about JWs, it’s for JWs and regurgitating the copy-pasta from various other fact-based exJW websites would be boring.

Governor Cuomo, Mass Murderer?
by Simon inwhat term would you use for a governor who enacts policies that directly cause the deaths of well over ten thousand and then covers up the death count for fear of prosecution?.
i think "mass murderer" is the correct term.. he's far, far from the "messiah" figure the media have portrayed him to be over his handling of covid.. let the lawsuits commence.. https://nypost.com/2021/02/11/cuomo-aide-admits-they-hid-nursing-home-data-from-feds/.

The Secretary of State admitted they covered it up because there was a DOJ investigation and to make Dems plans look better in the election as Biden plans for lockdowns are based on Cuomo.
He basically hid evidence from the feds. It is called obstruction.

Do You Think Trump Is Done?
by minimus incertain forces appear to be trying to make sure donald trump never runs for president again.
some republicans are clearly abandoning trump and of course the democratic press has been saying trump is done!
is trump’s goose cooked?
-
Anony Mous
About 47% of the population still supports him. I doubt he’ll run again, but true conservatives are forced to make a comeback to offset the crazy of the next 4 years.
No more Romney’s or Cheney’s or Bush’s, that’s for sure, if you don’t fight for your rights and your country you’ll end up with Biden and Harris and AOC.

Saving Money While Stuck At Home
by Simon inso you're stuck at home, you may be worried about your income, welcome to the world of filling your stuck-in-the-house time with saving some money!.
here in canada, our energy costs are going up because we have a carbon tax.
today, in the middle of the crisis, trudeau is raising it by 50%, probably as some perverse "thank you" to all the truckers delivering vital goods.

@Italiancalipso: You can just put the entire infrastructure on a timer if you're looking to save some money. It really makes no measurable difference to switch off the antenna, pulling up the webpage to do it costs more energy than the antenna does in an entire day. In most cases it doesn't actually switch it off either, it just blocks the traffic.
The best thing to do is turn down your heat/air. I have 3 settings: day (6a-9p) 68/72F, evening (9p-1am) 64/75F and night (1am-6a) 60/80F. I turn down the night because nobody notices when they sleep, but you don't want to go out to the bathroom in 60F either, so until everyone is settled, I keep it at 65. Also reset the heat to 68F every 4 hours. If we need to boost the heat for whatever reason, we don't need to keep it that high for the rest of the day. I also have a geofence on my smartphone so if we leave the house, it turns it down to 60F and when we get within a mile, it will set it back.
The other things to do is actually invest money into insulation and the like. I saved 50-75% on my heating bill between $1500 of attic insulation and $200 for a smart thermostat. That's almost $50-75/month I'm saving (now I pay less than $100/month for gas and electric, living near Canada in the Northeast)

To The Australian Government .Have Jehovah`s Witnesses signed the Redress scheme ?
by smiddy3 inmaybe i`m a just a bit more impatient than some ,but the govt.

As with most of these things, just grease the right hands and this will all go away. These kind of government actions are just a modern extortion scheme from those in power. They'll go through all the motions, hang this up in court for another decade and hope everyone else forgets before dismantling the operations for having done its job. The WTBTS will never have paid or lost anything, they're too small fish, the Catholic Church is much bigger and has already paid up, the extra few millions from the WTBTS won't make a change.
